Securing the Cairo Monorail with Integrated Access Control Solutions

As Egypt builds the world’s longest driverless monorail system, the East-of-Nile line linking Nasr City to the New Administrative Capital and the West-of-Nile line connecting 6th of October City to Giza are ushering in a new era of sustainable, reliable urban mobility.

In this landmark project, Capital Guard was proud to be selected by main contractors Orascom Construction PLC and The Arab Contractors to design and implement access control systems across the entire monorail network.

Project Scale & Significance

The New Administrative Capital monorail line spans approximately 56.5 km with 22 stations, and when combined with the 6th of October line, the network extends toward 100 km in length, forming a major leap in Egypt’s transport infrastructure.
This system is designed to carry tens of thousands of passengers per hour, reducing traffic congestion, lowering carbon emissions and connecting Greater Cairo with new urban centers.

Our Role & Scope of Work

Capital Guard’s engagement on this project covered:

  • Design & Implementation of Access Control Systems: Collaborating directly with Orascom and The Arab Contractors, to roll out a secure, scalable network across all 34 stations and supporting buildings in the monorail system.

  • Technology Stack:

    • Software House by Tyco: Core access control and event-management infrastructure

    • Camden Door Controls: High-performance locking hardware

    • George Risk Industries (GRI) & Labor Saving Devices (LSD): specialized locking solutions

  • Tailored Integration: Each station and facility underwent site-specific configuration, aligned to operational node requirements and integrated into the wider monorail access control architecture.

  • End-to-End Collaboration: From initial programming through to system handover, Capital Guard partnered closely with the main contractors to ensure smooth delivery, compliance, and readiness.

Why This Project Matters

Unparalleled Infrastructure Impact
By contributing a world-class access control network, Capital Guard is helping secure one of history’s largest monorail systems, a symbol of Egypt’s ambition and modernization.

Safety, Security & Efficiency
In a system carrying tens of thousands of passengers per hour, robust access control is mission-critical. Through secure hardware, encrypted communications and localized logic, we’ve helped ensure operational integrity across a large-scale system.

Seamless Integration
Rather than treating access control as a stand-alone element, we integrated across stations, buildings and infrastructure nodes. This unification delivers better monitoring, streamlined operations and stronger oversight
